Monte Cristo Sandwich

Reader Submission for the Pinstrosiversary Challenge:
One of my favorite meals in the universe is the Monte Cristo Sandwich.  I have found only three places that make them however: Bennigan’s, a random restaurant in Beaver, Utah, and the Blue Bayou Restaurant in Disneyland.  Thankfully, Disneyland is kind enough to spare us the $25 price tag and post the recipe online!  I pinned it ages ago, and when my birthday rolled around, I decided to make the calorie splurge and go for it.

And oh, was it awesome!  There isn’t a redeemingly healthy ingredient in this dish.  Meat, melty cheese, deep fried and coated with sugar and jelly.
The only problems I ran into was that I didn’t have quite enough oil, and that coating the sandwiches was a bit tricky.  One of them opened up a bit when I was dipping it in the batter, so the batter that leaked inside the sandwich didn’t get cooked.  That one was a bit soggy.

Otherwise, a pin WIN!

  1. The first time I ate a Monte Cristo I knew this would be a once in a while treat. Totally not healthy but worth the extra thousand miles to run & million push-ups.
