About Pinstrosity

Pinstrosity started out as a brain child of a series of failed attempts to make Pinterest things come to life. What was once a blog about how to find comradery and help on failed attempts to achieve DIY success has since become a place for us to find community in the fact that life, real life, is not always as it is portrayed on social media.

While we all love a good Facebook scroll, a fun feature on Instagram, and an inspirational pin to aspire towards on Pinterest, we at Pinstrosity know and preach that there is always more to the story, and we intend to share that with you.

You will still find the occasional failed attempt at the homemade here, but more than that we want to show you the not-so-failed successes of regular ol’ life. The life we live day to day, the messy, unorganized, rarely but occasionally picture perfect, most of the time ordinary, yet amazing lives that we all lead.

  1. is everyone having problems using pinterest with Chrome and FireFox browsers the last few days? IE seems to work but that's my least favorite browser and I don't want to start using it regularly.

    1. I haven't had any issues lately. Sometimes when my Chrome isn't working great (which isn't often, I love Chrome!), I go in and clear the cookies and browser history and it seems to help speed things up and get it running smooth again.

  2. Love this! I started a store called Fox It UP that is a DIY Boutique and specializes in helping people make their pinterest projects so they DON'T become pinstrosities! But I LOVE your site! Hilarious!

  3. I really enjoy coming to this site and having a good laugh. But over the last few months that I have visited, I am convinced that you guys should not be allowed near an oven and/or kitchen. Your failures are usually the result of the not following instructions, especially when baking. Baking is a precise art/science. You start ad libbing and that is where your road to failure begins.

But if you didn't follow instructions, I wouldn't have anything to laugh about.

PS: Your website appears to be another case of "Nailed it." I typed my comment and then hit preview. My post disappeared and I had to try to recreate it again. My fault, I should have saved it in my clipboard before proceeding--just in case.

    1. We're glad you enjoy the site. We enjoy posting up the submissions we receive from our readers (which makes up 90% of our content; if you go back through and take a closer look at the posts you'll catch that most of these are submission we have received, not our personal projects). We do enjoy posting up occasional projects of our own that "fail", or pins we've tested out though. Everyone blunders every now and again (but hopefully no one person makes enough true blunders to fuel a "fail site" all on their own). Baking is a precise art/science, but thank heavens for the ad libbers out there who have tried new things and brought forth new delicious concoctions for the world to enjoy.

  4. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that you two awesome husband guys were the ones who suggested actually starting a blog. Man what geniuses! You girls must feel so fortunate to have landed such swell guys, who probably have chiseled muscles like greek gods. What are those two studs doing these days?

    1. The origin of the blog idea is still up for debate. But I won't deny the two hubbies were there. Those two studs spend time lurking blogs and leaving creepy comments. ;)
