Mix It Up Monday: What?

Pinterest is full of good ideas, but then it's also full of pins that just make you sit and wonder
(warning...I think I woke up in a cynical mood today).

Really.

It took 5 people to write "Baby"?! Did they have a hard time agreeing on how many times to say the word "Baby" in the song? Were these the same people that decided to say "One People" instead of "One Person"?

This one took me a while to figure out. But when I did I thought, "I bet it's just that one number that works." So I tried out 4 more math problems and it works! Even when multiplying two triple digit numbers together. Who figures out these kind of things?! It'd be interesting to see their thought process..."I wonder what happens when I turn these numbers into lines and cross them?". I have no idea how they figure these things out, but I'm glad someone does! I'll have to show my brother and see if this helps.

update: For an explanation on how this works, check out our extra post today.

I can't decide if I hope the cat in this photo is really there or Photoshopped.

You pick the best school lunch meal for this meme? Pizza day was the best. Unless they were talking about that fruit cocktail up there that doesn't have a single visible cherry in it. I hated it when I didn't get a cherry. What a waste of fruit cocktail.
I actually never really minded the school lunches, but I know some people hated them.

If I were E.B. (in this particular film adaptation) and were making my choice based on being proposed to in the rain or in front of food...I'd have ended up with Mr. Collins.

So my favorite songs tell you how I feel. All the time? My favorite songs are my favorite songs when I'm happy, sad, or mad. I'm slightly confused at what this person meant.

My first thought is "Do I get up and turn off the alarm clock or pretend I'm sleeping through it so he will."

Then I suggest the following to the teenagers on theteenagerquotes site: go a day without your cell phone/iDevice and check out the local public library.

  1. The school lunch one amuses me. Not only was pizza the best lunch, but in reality you LOSE tastebuds as you get older! That is why baby food tastes so bland to an adult!

  2. Ha! to all of these except the math one-It's just AWESOME! I used to be a Special Ed teaching assistant and this is exactly the kind of thing we needed to help some of those kids who just don't get it any other way. Great for test taking too! SO awesome! I of course forwarded it to everyone I know who needs it. :)

Thanks for the laugh. I have a friend who has a Pinterst board called "Just..NO!" It's hilarious and crazy to see some of the things people try...and then pin.

  4. I think my favorite school lunch was the one where you got the cheese bread dippin' stix and sauce......which was basically pizza in a less cohesive form. But it was still awesome.

  5. Re: Elizabeth Bennet, the book was better. And he did none of those things in the book.

    1. The books are often better. As far as film versions for P&P go though, I will always love the A&E version. I've seen about 8 versions of P&P and the A&E is my personal favorite. I felt like it followed the book better than most of the others too.

  6. I believe that's fruit cocktail, not cobbler. ;)

    1. Did I write cobbler?! I did! I must have been half asleep still. I definitely know the delectable difference between cobbler and cocktail. I'll go fix that typo, thanks!

  7. There's a pretty good explanation of how that multiplication trick works in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-e8fzqv3CE

If you find math at all interesting, her other videos are really great, too.

  8. I feel ripped off now. We never got the yummy pretzel with the cheese in a package! I LOVED pizza day though. Delicious. =)

  9. Our pizza day was good but my favorite was spaghetti day. They had killer Alfredo sauce that I have yet to find a duplicate of. *drool*

  10. My thought in the morning is so similar...."do I pretend I don't hear the dog whining so he will take them out"
