Cinnamon Waffle Pin Tested!!

Hello all!
Chip's birthday was about two weeks ago and I asked him what he wanted to eat, he rattled off a few of his favorites that I had already written down unbeknownst to him, and then he asked for waffles! I got excited because I love waffles! I turned to my Pinterest and got to looking around at lots of different waffle variations that I thought would be a fun add on to his special day and I found this pin:

The Original

I like this pin, it looks good, but is it too good to be true?! They look so cute and bite size and is it really that easy to make cinnamon rolls?? I decided to do a pin test!!

Pin Tested
Cinna-Waffles, part of a complete breakfast.
The Cinna-Waffles are the dark ones on the left, we also had original waffles and chocolate chip waffles that morning AND bacon. Amazing.

Let me start off by saying these were SO yummy! They were crispier than I usually like (I like mine gooey), but we had a whole roll of cinnamon rolls cooked and ready in about 6-7 minutes (that's shorter than the time it takes to heat the oven!!I feel like that was an infomercial line lol). They tasted like cinnamon rolls and were really good!

As you can see from my pictures my cinna-waffles came out much bigger than the original. I put mine in the middle of my iron and it took up part of all four waffle triangles (not pictured). I ended up putting two cinna-waffles in at a time diagonal to one another and cooking them that way, four DEFINITELY would not have fit on my iron. I think my iron is about the average size, and I used regular Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for this, I'm not sure why the original the cinna-waffles look so small?! But the pin was a success, delicious, easy to make and clean up and they were divine! Pin tested, Pinstrosity approved! Go forward and Cinna-Waffle my friends!!

  1. Oh my, this is timely! I got a waffle iron last month and have been eyeing the cinnamon roll waffles, but I was sure the Pin had to be faux. So happy to be wrong -- when I go grocery shopping today, I'm getting a nice can of cinnamon rolls.

At this point, I may have made more grilled cheese panini than actual waffles in the waffle iron because I'm fascinated with waffling things.

  2. I just sent my husband a text to stop by the store on his way home and pick up some cinnamon rolls and sweet orange rolls. I think we'll have breakfast for dinner tonight.

    1. Mine turned out similar to yours, so I think the reason the original pins are so much smaller maybe due to the lid not being pushed own and flattening the rolls as much. Four filled our belgian waffle maker just like regular waffle batter would have but only if I pushed the lid down and held it down until they were done.

Otherwise, so very delicious and definitely make again file worthy.

  3. Those look HEAVENLY! I don't have a waffle iron but this pin may have convinced me to get one.

  4. Make sure and spray the iron with Pam before you cook your cinna-waffles! I'm so glad you guys are going to try them!!

  5. I don't tend to buy Pillsbury things, but I think I may have to try these! My waffle iron is completely different from yours though, it makes four, completely separate square waffles. It will be interesting... for sure.

  6. I do not have room for a waffle iron, but I am wondering how these would cook if I smashed them flat and fried like a pancake.

  7. I think the reason theirs may have come out different is they have a belgian waffle maker. Aren't belgian waffles larger than the average waffle? The walls on their waffle maker looked pretty deep, maybe that is why?

    1. They're deeper and round instead of square, but otherwise are roughly the same size. I used a beligian waffle maker- if I just closed the lid, they looked like the original pin. If I closed, pushed down and held the lid down, they looked like the tested ones do. So I think it all has to do with whether you hold the lid down and how much you flatten them.

They're deeper and round instead of square, but otherwise the same size. That's what I used for mine. If i didn't push and hold the lid down, they looked like the original pin, if I did push and hold the lid down, they looked like the tested ones do.

  9. My children thank you for featuring this pin! I decided to test it out a couple nights ago, with the only can of cinnamon rolls we had left. Being pregnant, it was ok to do this at 10pm lol. OMG so awesome! I ran out and bought more cans so I could make them for breakfast. I haven't had cinnamon rolls for breakfast in ages because I can't stand waiting 20 minutes for them to cook in the oven.

Mine turned out somewhere in the middle of the original and the test. They didn't completely fill the waffle iron, but came close. And they were so easy to cut into 4 to split among my 4 children. Cinna-Waffles are now a weekly treat in our house, instead of "well, if mom wakes up in the mood to bake" treat lol.
