Recess

Hello hello! Today you actually have real me and not pre-scheduled post me. I can't believe how fast those pre-scheduled posts ran out...I felt like I wrote a ton of them. But even though I'm here, I'm only on my brothers itouch (which is a pain to blog from). I'm mostly here today to let you know that Em and I discussed things and we're going to put the blog on the back-burner until January. My little guy is having trouble gaining weight and is on a super frequent feeding and supplementation schedule, so when I'm not working on trying to fatten him up I'm sleeping. Em's semester has been grueling for her and she's in the final throws of major papers and projects, so of course we want her to do well there. We're not shutting down the blog, and we may still do a random post here and there, but we will be cutting way back. Hopefully by January I'll have a fat little baby and Em will have a less hectic school and work life and we can get the blog running full steam again. So for now hang tight, look back at old posts if you haven't before, browse Pinterest, test pins, and keep the awesome submissions coming our way. We'll miss you all and can't wait to be get this blog running strong again! Have a wonderful holiday season and we'll catch you all later.

  3. Take care of yourself and that baby! Clearly he's been putting most of his energy into growing hair, so it's understandable that he's a little underweight!

  6. From the mom of an initial slow gainer, try eating fattier foods yourself for a few weeks. That really helped make my milk richer, and my little guy became quite the chunker.

  7. Good luck with exams and with the baby! I had a noneater, which made me kind of crazy (for lack of a better term!). Lots of doctors visits and worry.. I hated hearing about percentiles because we were in 5th percentile, and I was strangely jealous of other babies and their rolls of fat :b The newborn phase is tough but it does get better!! Just keep going and keep loving :)

  10. Good luck with getting him to gain. Some kids are just small. We fought the percentiles for all three of my kids. I highly recommend giving a visit to the La Leche League forums if you are nursing, as they have a ton of support and information on how to increase supply, and reduce supplementation, while still getting the baby to gain weight. Take all the time you need.

  11. Out of our 6 babies, we had 4 who were small - all the time. I increased our nursing sessions, made sure the drink lots of water and eat lots of good food (but not too much!). And then I had the doctor track my kids on their own growth curves. And they were gaining - but just not on the "standard population growth chart"...

So, take your time, nurse lots, and read some good books & watch some great movies!

  14. Oh, I totally understand! Life goes a bit crazy this time of year anyway, and you've got a lot on your plates. Kick back, do schoolwork (Em), feed the baby (Marquette,) and don't worry…I have a feeling we'll all be here when you come back.
