Home with Hyer Wools

Last week was a special week for us as we got to go home. Home to Cameron's parents house. Home to where I spent my childhood. Home to where we were married. Home with people we love.

When my family moved from Edgewood, I thought for sure I'd never find home again. My 14 year old heart was broken. Through the years and the moves though I've learned that home isn't just a place, though it can be. Home, for me, is where my loved ones are. Home is where my heart is. So now home for me is Northern AZ with my little family of 4. Home is my memories of EAC. Home is visiting my parents. Home is being with Cameron's parents. Home is The Ranch. Home is all over. And that makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world to get to call so many places Home.

We're smack in the middle of Cameron's first summer off as a teacher and we are LOVING it! Time with family. Time to do weddings. Time to travel. Time to be together. So often we only had a day or two to spend with family, but this time we were able to stay a whole week. And it was wonderful! 

Kerry and Kathleen, my fantastic parents-in-law, run Hyer Wools. Kerry hand shears sheep, together they spin the wool, Kerry knits, Kathleen crochets, and they work together on this dream of theirs. 

It's so fun to take Darrow out to see the flock and to introduce him to the sheep. He's not so sure what to think about it all, but he'll get used to the idea as we return again and again.

The latter half of the week we were joined by Cameron's brother and my sister (for any blog newbies...2 sisters married 2 brothers! But...we were totally first!). Watching the cousins run around together was such a fabulous part of the time there!

If the lamb would stay small and sweet forever, I'd go get one for Darrow right now. This little bottle fed lamb followed Darrow around the pen, and it was so sweet!

I love the landscape there. This is where the high plains hit the mountains. It is often dry and windy, but there is beauty in it!

The cholla were all in bloom while we were there, spotting the land in magentas and yellows, reminding me that it's time to celebrate my Aunt Jossie's Birthday!
