Also, fondant usually won't dry very rigid unless you're in a dry area (I'm in AZ, near Mex, so everything dries here), or you add tylose powder or gumpaste. The Broken Cookie Cutterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17062688807905688338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-1397872817556986292013-05-28T21:54:54.182-06:002013-05-28T21:54:54.182-06:00I actually had a pin win for my wedding cake a cou...I actually had a pin win for my wedding cake a couple of months back. We did a snack cake wedding cake and everyone loved it. It was perfect for our casual ceremony. If I hadn't seen it on Pinterest, I'da never thought of it. Of course, it wasn't *exactly* like the pin, but it was just as I envisioned it. :) My good friend (who didn't share my vision but she was a good sport about it) baked the cakes, with a cake hack I found on Pinterest. Then she brought them to the venue and we all put the snack cakes on there. Some of the early guests helped! They thought it was great fun.

The only Pinstrosity was that I over-calculated how much cake we needed and we had WAY too much cake. So much that the friend who baked it was giving it away to neighbors the next day and my husband took a layer to work.

It looked good though.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02122429823154241796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-86227188957373363682013-05-26T15:07:25.752-06:002013-05-26T15:07:25.752-06:00Honestly I don't even bother with the cake pin...Honestly I don't even bother with the cake pins (other than the bakery cake from a box trick-which I managed to get to turn out, but people who have tried my pin in turn said that it didn't) because I know that they wouldn't come out. I'm horrible with cakes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-89700600212809803122013-05-24T20:08:17.526-06:002013-05-24T20:08:17.526-06:00I'm nowhere near expert but haven't had tr...I'm nowhere near expert but haven't had trouble with any cake pins I've tried, I must either be insanely lucky or have a knack for covering up mistakes with icing. The first one isn't too bad, though it would have looked better if she'd reversed the frosting colors (blue for the cake, white for the rosettes) and made the blue a little brighter, though the picture lighting might make it look duller than it is. That 14 layer monster is unbelievable though, I can see how that would take a ridiculous amount of time and a professional grade kitchen to turn out correctly. Maybe someone could invent a paper cutter/deli slicer type deal for cake layers?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-19149002308095412352013-05-24T12:23:22.096-06:002013-05-24T12:23:22.096-06:00I think it's funny that the first source is al...I think it's funny that the first source is all about avoiding a pinstrosity.
