I used one box of Pillsbury white cake mix, 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup butter, and 2 tbs of vanilla extract. To turn them minty, do 1 tbs vanilla extract and 1/4-1/2 tbs peppermint extract (a little goes a long way!). To turn it green, only add 4-5 drips of green food dye. Baking 8-10 minutes at 350, and they came out perfectly pale green! It's super good to break up Andes mints and mix them in, too!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-34899645544004716672012-11-20T09:39:17.368-07:002012-11-20T09:39:17.368-07:00Maybe because you use brown sugar in chocolate chi...Maybe because you use brown sugar in chocolate chip cookie recipes?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-35918509885329995522012-09-18T19:01:56.000-06:002012-09-18T19:01:56.000-06:00Our, very simple (and cheaper-mint extract is expe...Our, very simple (and cheaper-mint extract is expensive!!!) way to make mint chocolate chip cookies goes like this: take normal chocolate chip cookie recipe, except switch out the regular chocolate chips with Andes mint chips. You can find them in the same aisle as the chocolate chips or crush up Andes mints. They taste awesome and no need to worry about food coloring! (Though you can add it if you want to!)Stefanenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-77106567316965601402012-08-18T12:06:28.502-06:002012-08-18T12:06:28.502-06:00I have tried this one before pinterest and they lo...I have tried this one before pinterest and they looked like the ones in the original pin.. bevvy.lynn98https://www.blogger.com/profile/13020597847364555490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-32855374248529913252012-08-07T19:44:36.662-06:002012-08-07T19:44:36.662-06:00...also you have to take them out before the edges......also you have to take them out before the edges start browning. Don't be afraid that they are under done. We are used to cookie recipes telling us to remove them when they are "golden brown" or the "edges turn golden." I have also noticed that any sort of batter coloring that has a yellow in it will brown like this. It's basically what makes onions caramelize better when you add baking soda. Caramelization occurs when you have an alkaline pH - mainly baking soda. If you added some lemon juice to these or lots of cream of tartar, they would brown MUCH less and your green would shine through!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10125231359237515498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-11298926260608778382012-06-26T23:38:44.050-06:002012-06-26T23:38:44.050-06:00I think the reason that you can't dye traditio...I think the reason that you can't dye traditional chocolate chip cookies is that (at least in all the recipes I have seen) they have brown sugar in them which is probably what makes them brown.Cassie D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08304092589062741134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-42534401496678961522012-06-26T15:54:49.682-06:002012-06-26T15:54:49.682-06:00These do look more like chocolate chip sugar cooki...These do look more like chocolate chip sugar cookies vs the traditional cookie base with brown sugar.IAmAUnicornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061648975976766701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299578764487881408.post-23453259296839900722012-06-09T22:03:43.626-06:002012-06-09T22:03:43.626-06:00I've made this with great success and failures...I've made this with great success and failures. If you follow the recipe and use the store bought sugar cookie mix and follow the rest of the directions, they are wonderful cookies that look like the original picture. (I used Betty Crocker) I've tried it with a couple of homemade sugar cookie recipes and I haven't liked the results nearly as well. As far as I can tell from trial and error you have to use the mix and not over bake them.Jennaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01644756694257336764noreply@blogger.com
